À brûle-pourpoint II originated from a desire to improvise on the sonic gesture of friction-granulation combining electronic sounds and field recordings. Fast triggering and spatialising sound objects, Florine Mougel creates a close landscape of incandescent particles that evokes a state of restlessness.

The piece draws a mental landscape, in two parts, inspired by Raymond Queneau ́s omniscient narrator in “Pierrot mon ami”. Electronic sounds, and then natural ones, form a fog of precise elements. The carelessness and the lightness of an idle thought go along with a heavy awkwardness. From the writer’s style, changes of scale, fundamental contradictions, and a certain playfulness, found a sound transposition. “Leaning comfortably on his elbows, Pierrot was thinking of the death of Louis XVI”….
